Gaydos Secures $323,600 in Grants for Local Recreational Improvements
HARRISBURG – Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) today announced grants totaling $323,600 have been awarded to Moon and Robinson townships, and Leetsdale Borough to fund recreational improvement projects through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
“These grants represent a vital investment in our community's future, enhancing access to green spaces and recreational opportunities for families and visitors,” said Gaydos. “I’m proud to support these projects that will not only preserve our natural environment but also create lasting benefits for the residents of Moon and Robinson townships and Leetsdale Borough.”
• Hollow Oak Land Trust was awarded $52,400 toward the acquisition of approximately 17.5 acres along Downing Drive in Moon Township for an addition to the Montour Woods Conservation Area.
• Hollow Oak Land Trust also received $7,200 for the purchase of equipment to maintain and construct approximately 20 miles of trails in Moon and Robinson townships.
• Leetsdale Borough was awarded $249,000 toward the rehabilitation of Henle Park. The work will include renovation of multi-sport court, construction of a pedestrian walkway, installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, and more.
• Leetsdale Borough also received $15,000 to prepare a master site development plan for the riverfront along the Allegheny River.
The C2P2 program is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.
