HARRISBURG – Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) announced today she has been appointed by House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) to serve as the Republican secretary of the House Liquor Control Committee for a second term.
The House Liquor Control Committee is responsible for issues relating to the administration of alcoholic beverage licenses and the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to once again serve as secretary of this committee for the 2023-24 Legislative Session,” said Gaydos. “I look forward to continue advocating for more customer convenience, streamlined business practices and greater transparency in our state stores.”
“Rep. Gaydos has always shown a strong commitment to doing what is in the best interest of the people of her district and the Commonwealth,” said Cutler. “Her thorough approach and track record of success will benefit the members of the committee and ultimately the policy decisions that will impact Pennsylvania’s consumers and taxpayers.”
The committees are where all bills are first sent and reviewed. During the committee process, amendments can be offered, discussion on the bills takes place and sometimes public or informational hearings are held to gather more information on a legislative issue before a vote is taken on whether to advance a bill for a vote before the full House.
In addition, Gaydos serves on the House Government Oversight Committee, and is the House Republican representative to the America250PA Commission, a board of directors member of Team Pennsylvania Foundation and a member of the Small Business Council to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. She also will continue to serve as the Co-Chair of the House Life Sciences Caucus, Co-Chair of the Cybersecurity caucus and a member of the House Cancer Caucus.
