Gaydos Applauds Natural Gas Revenue Returning to Local Communities

June 24, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) today announced communities in the 44th Legislative District in Allegheny County will receive more than $120,000 in Marcellus Shale impact fees. In addition, Allegheny County will receive more than $1.26 million in funding.

“These funds are a direct result of Pennsylvania’s energy production and represent a win for our communities,” said Gaydos. “They help fund critical infrastructure improvements, support environmental initiatives and reduce the burden on local taxpayers.”

The following impact fee disbursements in the 44th District were announced:

  • Aleppo Township - $615.
  • Bell Acres Borough - $995.
  • Crescent Township – $1,096.
  • Edgeworth Borough - $909.
  • Findlay Township - $95,942.
  • Glen Osborne Borough - $ 307.
  • Glenfield Borough - $50.
  • Haysville Borough - $18.
  • Leet Township - $631.
  • Leetsdale Borough - $683.
  • Moon Township - $10,216.
  • North Fayette Township - $6,358.
  • Sewickley Borough - $1,681.
  • Sewickley Heights Borough - $557.
  • Sewickley Hills Borough - $292.

Under Act 13 of 2012, impact fees are collected from the drilling companies with 60% returned to counties and municipalities affected by drilling. The rest of the money goes into a Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, a portion of which is provided to counties. The remaining funds are used by the state for emergency response planning, training and other activities; water, storm water, and sewer system construction and repair; infrastructure maintenance and repair; as well as statewide environmental initiatives.

Checks to municipalities are expected to be distributed in early July.
