January 20, 2026

ALLEGHENY COUNTY - Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) announced today more than $840,000 in state funding has been approved through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund to support local water and transportation improvements.

“These grants help ensure our communities have safe, reliable water systems and accessible streets for residents and students,” Gaydos said. “Investing in these projects now prevents bigger problems in the future and keeps our neighborhoods safe and thriving.”
The following projects received funding:

The Municipal Authority of the Borough of Edgeworth:
$72,760
to install a water storage tank mixer at the HealthSouth facility, improving water quality and system efficiency.
Moon Township:
$770,000
for pedestrian improvements along University Boulevard and Beaver Grade Road. The project will add sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, retaining walls and decorative fencing to create safe, accessible routes for students and residents.

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program awards grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water, and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. Funds may be used toward construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, or flood control projects.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.

The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which administers both the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund to support infrastructure, recreation, and community development projects across Pennsylvania.
